The International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS) is a research project carried out in 1992, 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013-2014 by a global network. This project originally launched by the London Business School and Chalmers University of Technology, studies manufacturing and supply chain strategies within the assembly industry through a detailed questionnaire administered simultaneously in many countries by local research groups.
Today the project is coordinated by Politecnico di Milano and University of Bergamo and carried together with a network of universities from all over the world.
In the last edition, developed in 2013-2014, data from 931 manufacturing plants from 22 different countries have been gathered. For more information about the project and the sample please refer to the Project page.
Companies involved in the study have the possibility to access to the national and global reports drew from gathered data. Companies can also benefit of being part of an international research network and participate to workshops organized by local IMSS research partners.
The project led over time to several publications and achievements at the international level.
